NORFOLK

REUNION KICKOFF – WELCOME RECEPTION:

It’s time to get the reunion going, see who’s here and catch up on all the scuttlebutt from last year! There will be a welcome reception followed by a Pool Party starting at 6:00 PM. See you there!

 

NORFOLK CITY TOUR, LUNCH CRUISE, & WATERSIDE:

 

Board your coach and reminisce about the sights - both old & new – as your guide takes you on a deluxe mostly riding tour of Norfolk. We will stop to visit St. Paul's church, built in 1739, and the  lone survivor of the 1776 bombardment by the British. See the cannon ball still lodged in its wall.  Next, board the magnificent Spirit of Norfolk, for a 2-hour lunch cruise.  Feast on a sumptuous buffet and enjoy the informative narration as you cruise. View the many interesting sites along the waterfront, including the mighty aircraft carriers and nuclear submarines at the naval base. Enjoy dancing and a show following lunch. After your cruise, you may choose to visit the Hampton Naval Museum. Here docents discuss highlights of naval battles and events that took place in the Norfolk area over the last 200 years. Or choose to visit Waterside, Norfolk's exciting festival marketplace overlooking the picturesque Elizabeth River.  Waterside features over 100 shops, boutiques and restaurants. The National Maritime Center, Nauticus, is also located here. Now featuring the Battleship Wisconsin.

 

COLONIAL WILLIAMSBURG OVERVIEW& JAMESTOWN ISLAND:

 

Depart via motor coach with your guide for the charming town of Williamsburg. Your guide will provide interesting and informative narration during your ride about the historic Virginia Peninsula and the Hampton Roads area. Once you arrive in Williamsburg, you will step back into the 17th Century while strolling through the streets of this Colonial Capital. Your historic interpreter will guide you through the past and events that helped shape America's history, as you enjoy a 1½ hour leisurely walking tour through the restored area of this lovely hamlet; (actual distance is about four - five blocks). There are many opportunities to stop and rest along the way, and beverages are also available. Following your overview tour, enjoy approximately two hours to shop and browse in the many unique specialty shops in Merchant’s Square. High-quality apparel, gifts, crafts, quilts, beautiful furniture, porcelain, pewter and Christmas decorations are but a few of the offerings found in his quaint, picturesque shopping area. Enjoy lunch on your own in one of the historic Colonial taverns or in the Square. Next board the bus and admire the view as your ride along the scenic Colonial Parkway to Jamestown Island, original site of the first permanent English settlement in America in 1607. See the ruins of the 17th century settlement and tour the visitors center with a 15- minute film, museum and gift shop. Also on display are recent archeological finds, including the 400 year old skeletal remains of one of the first settlers.

 

NAVAL BASE TOUR & MACARTHUR MEMORIAL or MacARTHUR MALL:

 

Board the motor coach with your guide for the short drive to the Norfolk Naval base, the largest naval installation in the world. Here you will enjoy a riding tour of the base which is homeport to over 100 ships and 26 aircraft squadrons, and headquarters for the Atlantic Fleet. Your tour will take you past the piers, through the Naval Air Station and along “Admiral’s Row” which house the flag officers. Lunch will be on base, on your own, as directed by your tour guide. Next at the MacArthur Memorial, the entire group will participate in a Memorial service, and then you may choose either to tour the Memorial or visit the brand new MacArthur Center Mall. If you choose to stay at the MacArthur Memorial you will see the movie & view the outstanding collection of artifacts, documents, photographs and memorabilia which traces the life and times of five star General Douglas MacArthur. The General is entombed in the rotunda of the memorial. The MacArthur Center Mall, anchored by Nordstrom's and Dillards, is considered the finest in the Mid-Atlantic area.

SAN ANTONIO

 

REUNION KICKOFF GROUP DINNER – PORTS OF THE WORLD BUFFET:

 

Join the gang and “kickoff” the reunion in style, with a sumptuous all you-can-eat, buffet feast from around the world. Dining stations will be set up representing foods & desserts from different port cities. We also have some special surprises in store, and you have to eat somewhere, so come join your mates for a night of fun. Don’t miss the kickoff!

 

SUPER SIGHTSEEING TOUR of SAN ANTONIO:

 

This grand tour has something for everyone & will show you why this is one of the most popular cities in America. Your superb tour guide will first give you a riding tour of all the wonderful city sights. Then you’ll embark on a private boat tour of the famous Riverwalk.  Next you will have some time to explore the incredible Institute of Texan Cultures showcasing the history & diversity of Texas. Lunch will be on your own, after which you’ll ride down to the Queen of Spanish Missions to see a documentary film and explore the grounds.  This will be an exciting and informative day!

 

GROUP DINNER AT THE LONGHORN RANCH:

 

Put on your boots, we’re headin’ for a rootin’, tootin’ good time! Enjoy a chuck wagon supper of smoked brisket, sausage or turkey breast, BBQ sauce, pinto beans, potato salad, homemade drop-biscuits, brownies, iced tea/coffee. (Beer, wine & soda are at the cash bar) The Cowboy Show features cowboy songs, a performing Longhorn, trick roping, six-shooter exhibition and more.

 

TEXAS HILL COUNTRY, FREDRICKSBURG & MUSEUM OF THE PACIFIC WAR:

 

Renowned for it's rolling vistas and beautiful natural serenity, the Texas Hill Country will capture your heart and attention throughout every moment of this intriguing tour. You’ll arrive in the quaint German community of Fredericksburg. There you will find historic homes and shops, wooden sidewalks, old-tyme soda fountains, and uniquely Texan curios. You will have your Memorial Service at the brand new National Museum of the Pacific War. The museum is the world’s leading institution dedicated to preserving the history of WWII in the Pacific.

 

Also, of interest is the Pacific Combat Zone and the Nimitz Museum tracing the days of Admiral Nimitz's youth, his early years in the U.S. Navy, the years during WWII and finally the post-war years leading up to his death in 1966. You will have time to browse the shops, have lunch on your own and we recommend a stop at the vintage ice cream parlor. Bring your cameras – this is a great tour!

 

REMEMBER THE ALAMO TOUR:

 

This is an important tour and says a lot about the determination and spirit of Texans and Americans in general. As this is an historic tour, you’ll start with a bus ride down to Alamo Plaza for a tour of the famous Menger Hotel. You’ll learn of the fascinating history and see where Teddy Roosevelt gathered his original group of Roughriders. Then, you’ll view an award winning IMAX movie presentation of “The Price of Freedom” which chronicles the story of the battle of the Alamo. With fresh images and the story in your mind, you’ll then proceed to the Alamo itself. See where it all actually happened and walk the hallowed grounds of history. Afterwards, you’ll have lunch on your own back at the Riverwalk or the Rivercenter Mall and time for boutique browsing or souvenir shopping around Alamo Plaza.

NASHVILLE

 

SIGHTS & SOUNDS of NASHVILLE CITY TOUR:

 

This is not your typical, routine city tour, but an entertaining look at all the sights that make up Nashville as seen through he eyes of the “Juggs” sisters, celebrity stars of television and radio. This tour is sure to be a hoot! You’ll also have time downtown to explore and have lunch on your own. Bring your camera and comfortable shoes. This will be a great day!

 

GENERAL JACKSON SHOWBOAT CRUISE:

 

Come onboard a huge, authentic Paddlewheeler for the most popular variety show in Nashville. The music, comedy and dancing are terrific, not to mention the bountiful buffet! You’ll also enjoy the views as you cruise on down the river. This continues to be one of the most popular attractions in Nashville and lots of fun for everyone.

 

GRAND OLE OPRY:

 

This is the show that made Nashville famous! The one, the only, the Opry. We never know which celebrities will turn up and perform, but one thing is for certain, it’s always a great show, with something for everyone. Music, dancing, and lots of laughs, makes this variety show a Nashville tradition and a crowd favorite. You’ll have floor seats so come see what all the fuss is about!

 

BANQUET DINNER:

 

We’ll start in the hospitality suite for cocktails and then move over to the ballroom for dinner. A speech by a retired admiral followed by a USO style show follows dinner.

WASHINGTON, DC

 

VIP VETERAN'S TOUR OF WASHINGTON DC:

 

We board our buses for our nations Capitol. First we'll stop at the US Naval Yard & Museum.  Our guided tour will feature exhibits that trace U.S. Naval history through the Gulf War.  There'll be plenty of time to view artifacts, tour the USS Barry & rekindle Naval memories.  Next we journey to the US Naval Memorial to see an IMAX movie "AT SEA" which is sure to thrill everyone.  You will have time to tour the Memorial (and gift shop) and even search the Navy  database for you records.  Then partake in a very special Memorial service in your honor, accompanied by a full Color Guard and Bugler to sound taps.  Don't forget your camera's.

 

Afterwards we will stop to have lunch on your own and then continue our VIP Veteran's tour  to include The Vietnam War Memorial, The Korean War Memorial, Iwo Jima, Arlington Cemetery, and much more!

 

GUIDED SUPER SIGHTSEEING TOUR OF FAMOUS DC SITES:

 

This fabulous sightseeing trip is a must while visiting D.C.. You will see all of the famous sites that makes up our nation's capitol.  Your professional guide will relate interesting anecdotes as you make several stops for photo's including the White House, Capitol Hill, The Senate, Supreme Court, Treasury, the Washington Monument and much more. We will stop for lunch on your own. After lunch, you will be taken to the Smithsonian Museum of your choice, for touring on your own.

 

We'll give you an overview of all the famous Smithsonian Institutions.  They are the worlds most visited museum,  Air and Space,  Museum of American History (Dorothy's ruby slippers, honest Abe's hat), Museum of Natural History, History of the Natural world and Human Cultural, the National Portrait Art Gallery and more.

 

TOUR OF THE NAVAL ACADEMY & HISTORIC ANNAPOLIS :

 

Take your coach to Annapolis to enjoy a guided tour of the one and only U.S. Naval Academy. There is a wonderful naval museum and archives of the greatest navy in the world.

 

Then enjoy a guided tour of the historic sites, including the State Capitol building which is the oldest in America (in continuous operation), that dates back to when Annapolis was the capitol of the U.S.A. After lunch, you will have time for exploring at your leisure, all the fascinating historic buildings and specialty shops of Old Annapolis. After lunch, you will depart from the City Docks for a lovely narrated cruise of the Annapolis Basin, Severn River and past the Naval Academy on the confluence of the mighty Chesapeake. You will thoroughly enjoy this day!
