Welcome to Seattle
During the last half of the 19th century, Seattle grew to
become a major port of call for ships plying the Pacific Coast. The
surrounding hills and islands supplied thousands of shiploads of lumber
and coal for California towns. The Port of Seattle is the largest port
in the Pacific Northwest, and among the ten busiest container ports in
the United States. Reunion tours include a Seattle City tour, which
features some of the city’s top attractions, as well as time to browse
in the famous Pike Place Market. The narrated Locks cruise offers
spectacular views of the city and surrounding mountains, and don’t miss
the opportunity to tour the Boeing manufacturing plant and museum.
Seattle is the perfect location for the VRC-50 Reunion and will provide
many opportunities to relax and enjoy your family and friends in this
ideal setting.
Hotel Information
The reunion officially begins on Thursday, September 9th and ends on Sunday, September 12th. You will be staying at the Marriott Seattle Airport, located at 3201 South 176th St., Seattle, WA 98188. The Marriott is located close to many of the city’s top attractions.
Reservation Information
The room rate is $109.00 plus tax per night based on single or double occupancy. The rate includes a full hot breakfast buffet served daily in the hotel restaurant. For those of you who choose to arrive early or stay late, the same room rate is available two days before and two days after the official reunion dates, based on availability. Please make your hotel reservations NOW by calling the hotel directly at 206-241-2000 between 9-4 pm PST and ask for in-house reservations. Mention that you are with the VRC-50 Reunion to assure you are associated with your group. You may request specific room types when you call to make your reservations (handicap-accessible room, etc.).
Transportation and Directions
If you are flying to the reunion, the Marriott offers complimentary shuttle service from the Seattle Airport (SEA). Upon arrival at the airport, call using the free courtesy phone in the Baggage Claim area. For those of you driving, a special discounted parking rate of $6 per car, per day has been negotiated for the duration of the reunion.
