USS Wisconsin 2012 Reunion

Greater Norfolk's dramatic history and the history of our country began in 1607 when three ships of English settlers landed near the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay. Today, the past and present are intertwined in the sights and sounds of a modern city that solidly embraces its 400-year old roots. The 2012 USS Wisconsin Reunion program will provide the opportunity to return to your ship, as well as experience the area’s history, modern day revitalization and strong military presence. Reunion tours will include a day trip to Colonial Williamsburg, a luncheon cruise on the Elizabeth River, and the Best of Hampton Roads tour. Of course there will be ample opportunity to visit the USS Wisconsin. Returning to Norfolk is the perfect choice for the 2012 Reunion, and will provide many opportunities to relax and enjoy your family and friends in this ideal setting.

ROOMS AT THE HEADQUARTERS HOTEL ARE NOW SOLD OUT

MRP is keeping a wait list of people who wish to be notified if / when rooms become available at the host hotel (Sheraton). Include your full name, dates of stay, preferred one or two beds, your email and the best number to reach you. We will contact you if we can confirm a room at the Sheraton.

Overflow Hotel Information

Due to the overwhelming response for this year’s reunion all of the rooms at the original hotel are SOLD OUT! We have a limited number of rooms being held from July 17-22 at the full service Tazewell Hotel & Suites located at 245 Granby St., Norfolk VA, 23510. The Tazewell is 6 blocks from the Sheraton. Please note that if you call the Sheraton they may try and sell you on a sister property which is NOT nearby.

The room rate is $109.00, plus tax per night. The rate includes complimentary continental breakfast daily. For those of you who choose to arrive early or stay late, the same room rate is available 2 days before and 2 days after the official reunion dates, based on availability. Please make your hotel reservations NOW by calling the hotel directly at 757-623-6200 and ask for “in-house reservations”. You may request specific room types when you call to make your reservations (handicap accessible room, etc.). The hotel check-in time is 3:00pm. Please, do not expect to get into your room before then. Make your reservations NOW. If there is a need to cancel your room reservation, please do so at least 72 hours prior to arrival to avoid financial penalty. Be sure to ask for the USS Wisconsin group rate. If you have any trouble getting a room at the group rate call MRP at 817-251-3551 for help. The hotel is holding rooms until they also sell out or June 17^th, 2012, whichever comes first. Don’t delay!

Airport Transportation & Parking

The closest airport is Norfolk (ORF). For those of you flying to the reunion, shuttle service is available from Airport Connections at (757) 963-0433 assure you are going to the Sheraton Norfolk Waterside. For those of you driving, a special discount parking rate of $5.00 per day for self parking has been arranged for the duration of the reunion. Contact the hotel directly or check out the hotel website if you need specific driving directions.
